PONY EXPRESS POST 359
WORLD WAR II MEMORIAL NATIONAL DEDICATION DAY
RECOGNITION PROGRAM
On May 29, 2004, during Memorial Day weekend, the long-awaited National World War II Memorial
was dedicated in Washington, D.C. Realizing that many World War II veterans will not be able to attend the ceremony in Washington, the
American Legion Family undertook a program to allow those veterans to
receive a justly deserved tribute.
An American Legion program to recognize the World War II Veterans in Buchanan County
was held on May 29, 2004, at American Legion Pony Express Post 359, 4826 Frederick Avenue, St. Joseph, Missouri.
Over 500 World War II Veterans and family members attended to celebrate the
dedication of the World War II Memorial in Washington, DC and to recognize those
who fought to save the world during World War II.
